Official Rules

Jump to: eligibility, entry categories, entry dates and deadlines, works accepted for entry, fees, entry format, judging, certificates and statues, publicity, or notification. If you're ready to enter, register now.

Eligibility

Entries must have been completed within the last 3 years. Television entries must have been aired on cable or broadcast television.

We accept international entries as well as those produced in the United States. To date, we have received entries from all 50 States in the US, and over 47 countries from around the world.

Entry Categories

The two main types of categories are General and Craft. The general categories include a list of typical types of projects such as educational, commercial, or internal communication. Craft categories relate to specific elements of a production such as lighting, audio, cinematography, or programming.

You may enter a project in multiple categories with a $50 entry fee for each category entered. You do not need to send additional media for each entry.

See Entry Categories for a complete list of all categories and their descriptions.

Entry Dates and Deadlines

The deadline for entries in the Spring competition is April 1st. Late entries will be accepted until April 30th for an additional $10 fee.

The deadline for entries in the Fall competition is October 1st. Late entries will be accepted until October 31st for an additional $10 fee.

Works accepted for Entry

The following types of work are accepted for entry:

  • Video: Non-broadcast television/video
  • Television: Broadcast or cable television
  • Film: Any project created primarily using film
  • Animation: 2D or 3D animated project
  • Interactive Multimedia: Interactive productions
  • Internet: Any project created primarily for internet based access

Fees

The non-refundable entry fee for each submission is $50. (Late entries must include an extra $10 late fee.) This fee must be paid in U. S. dollars. We accept Visa and Mastercard. Additionally, we accept check and money orders from US based financial institutions. Check and money order payment must accompany the entry and must be made payable to: Omni Awards. This system allows a lower entry fee so that you can submit more projects for consideration.

Entry Format

All video, television, film and animation entries may be delivered via Internet-based video delivery, DVD, a BetaSP, DV or VHS video tape in NTSC format.

Interactive entries may be submitted on a CD-Rom, DVD or via the Internet.

Entries will not be returned.

Each entry that has to physically mailed to our office must have a entry form taped to the media.

Judging

Each entry will be judged by a jury of your peers. Entries will be scored on a ten-point scale. Entries judged from 0.0 to 7.4 will not receive an award, 7.5-8.5 are bronze winners, 8.5-9.5 are silver winners, and entries judged from 9.5-10 are gold winners.

Historically 5% of entrants receive a Gold, 10% a Silver and 15% a Bronze award. An estimated 70% of all entrants do not receive an award of distinction. Based on these percentages, the high level of production values required to receive an award is apparent.

Certificates and Statues

All four Omni Awards: Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze.

Every award winner will receive a certificate of accomplishment as part of their entry fee.

For an additional fee, all award winners may purchase an Omni Statue. The Omni Award stands 10" high and is made of matte black foxite with a pewter cast Omni figure. Duplicate awards and certificates can be ordered at any time.

Publicity

All winners will receive publicity information to release to their local media. Winners have the right to display the Omni logo in conjunction with their company. Winners will have access to the Omni Awards Winner's Circle for special downloads and press releases.

Notification

All entrants will be contacted via email after entering the competition through the jury process. No written communication will be sent via postal delivery. Should your representative not be available to complete the jury or award ordering process, we can reset users and passwords at your request. If you do not have the original log in information, please contact us via e-mail to request help with account changes.
